Saturday Morning at The National

Winter 2018

Performances are at 9:30am and 11:00am.  Tickets may be reserved beginning the Friday, one week prior to the performance.  Seating is limited.  Once reserved tickets have sold out, a limited amount of walk-up tickets will be available on-site on the day of the show.  Please arrive 30 minutes prior to the performance time to take a place in the “Stand-by line.” Programs are best suited for children ages 4 to 10 years.

RocknocerosDate: January 20, 2018
Performer/Show: Rocknoceros
Description: Get ready to twist, shake, rattle, and roll as Rocknoceros gets the family on their feet dancing to upbeat tunes. Coach Cotton, Williebob, and Boogie Woogie Bennie have been making award-winning music for the whole family since 2005. Beech Tree Puppets Hollow Stump

Performer/Show: Beech Tree Puppets: Hollow Stump
Description: Adapted from the popular tale, The Mitten, The Hollow Stump celebrates community, as the animals learn to share one space. Seven very different animals seek shelter from the winter cold and snow in a large hollow stump. The characteristics of each animal are revealed through a unique and descriptive poem and song. This musical history program brings to life the ballads and song lyrics that helped build American independence and define a nation. He will captivate families with the jaws harp, banjo, guitar, mandolin, hand whistle, the musical saw, and even the bottles. InterAct Story Theatre The Town That Cried Avalanche

Description: In preparation for Earth Day, the National Theatre is thrilled to host the World Premier of “The Town That Cried Avalanche”, an interactive play that asks: how do you balance progress and the needs of the people with taking care of our environment? Controversy rocks the tiny mountain town of Avalanche as the progress everyone craves threatens to shake up their lives and reduce their mountain to rubble. What should the town do–and how can anyone make decisions when everyone disagrees with each other? The play is performed by three actors onstage with help from everyone in the audience, who become part of the action as citizens locked in passionate debate at the Avalanche Town Hall Meeting.
