Read Across America - An NEA Project

Read Across America Day

The National Education Association (NEA) created Read Across America Day to motivate and raise awareness for young readers while celebrating the birthday of the timeless author, Dr. Seuss.

When:  Saturday, March 1, 2014 – 9:30am to 11:30am
Where: The Workhouse Arts Center – W-3 Youth Arts Center & Theatre

The Workhouse Arts Center is proud to host National Education Association’s Read Across America Day on March 1 for the first time ever! Friends and family of all ages are welcome to participate in FREE Guest Book Readings and other fun activities like making your own bookmark.  Read along with us in the W-3 Theatre, and afterwards, get a picture with the Cat in the Hat himself.  Join us for a one-day celebration of reading and the iconic Dr. Seuss!

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss! Join the Tenley-Friendship Neighborhood Library to celebrate the birth of Theodor Geisel, the boy who would become one of the world’s most beloved and well know children’s author’s: Dr. Seuss.  The afternoon will feature readings from some of Dr. Seuss’s stories, games, crafts and, of course, a birthday snack.dr-seuss-books-collections

For 17 years, the National Education Association has celebrated literacy on March 2, Dr. Seuss’s birthday. The Anacostia Library will be celebrating with a family story time in their Children’s programming room featuring Dr. Seuss stories and related activities.  All ages.
