Posted on May 30, 2013 by DC Thrifty Mom in 2013 Calendar of Events, Educational Programs, Food, May 2013 Activities and Events and tagged with , , , , ,

My Garden Project - Howard University Hospital

My Garden Project is a free program sponsored by Howard University College of Medicine, Howard University Hospital and the Doctors of Howard University for Washington D.C. families with elementary school children designed to teach children about the importance of healthy eating and the joy of watching fruits and vegetables grow.

Howard University physicians will plant a free garden at your home or apartment that will then be tended by your child. The gardens, made up of tomatoes, squash, cucumbers or other vegetables, are largely self-sufficient. They primarily only need watering during particularly long periods of drought.

The physicians, along with a special gardener, will stop in periodically to help with the garden.

To sign up for a FREE garden, please email Lindsay Conn at Lindsay.conn@howard.edu or Ron Harris at rjharris@howard.edu

To Register, email the following information:

  • Parent/Guardian Name & Contact Information (email and phone number)
  • Names and ages of the participating elementary school children
  • Address of the D.C. residence where the garden will be located

Only a few spaces remain!

D.C. Residents, with elementary school children, REGISTER for this FREE and Educational Program TODAY!

Additional Questions? Contact Ron Harris at 202.683.0182
